Soft Sell Digital ("we", "us", "our") is based in Chorley, Lancashire. This page explains what personal data we collect when you use softsell.digital, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it.

1. What we collect

  • Contact details you give us directly — for example, your name and email address when you email us, use our chat widget, or fill in a form.
  • Chat conversations with our GPTMate chat widget, including anything you type when describing your project or asking a question.
  • Basic technical data — standard hosting logs (such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited) collected automatically by our hosting provider.

We do not knowingly collect payment card details on this site — invoicing and payment are handled separately once you become a client.

2. Why we collect it

We use your data to:

  • Respond to enquiries and quote for work you've asked about.
  • Operate the GPTMate chat widget so it can answer your questions in context.
  • Keep the site secure and diagnose technical issues.

Our legal basis for this is legitimate interest (responding to enquiries you've initiated) or consent (where you've actively started a chat conversation).

3. Who we share it with

We use a small number of third-party services to run this site and respond to you:

  • GPTMate — powers our chat widget and processes chat messages you send through it.
  • Vercel — hosts this website and processes standard technical/server logs.
  • 20i — manages our domain and email infrastructure.

We do not sell your personal data to anyone.

4. Cookies

This site uses minimal cookies/local storage required for the chat widget to function (remembering an open conversation). We don't run third-party advertising trackers on this site.

5. How long we keep it

We keep enquiry and chat data for as long as reasonably needed to respond to you and, if you become a client, for the duration of our working relationship plus a reasonable period afterwards for accounting and legal purposes.

6. Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Ask what personal data we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate data.
  • Ask us to delete your data, where we're not required to keep it for legal reasons.
  • Object to how we're using your data.

To exercise any of these rights, email accounts@softsell.digital. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The most current version is always the one published on this page. This page is provided for guidance and should be reviewed by a solicitor before being relied on as a complete statement of our legal obligations.
